Whether it’s the family crowd, the ravers, those who are there for a literal laugh in the comedy tent, the workshop crowd, the foodies or the animal lovers, everyone has their favourite marque, crowd, or show. Few festivals cater to all those things at the same time. Standon Calling is one of those festivals.

After some careful planning, DC Site Services is pleased to finally launch our 2021 Event Calendar (click here to view!) Following a difficult year for the events industry, summer 2021 is looking much more promising and we’re excited to invite you to be a part of it.
Understandably, following the upheaval of a missing festival season and the impact of having to consider the varied possible outcomes of the one ahead, the timeline of planning for most contractors has been pushed back somewhat. As read more...
This is a year of change for DC Site Services and we’re keen to bring you along with us. One of those first subtle changes is our NEW LOGO! You’ll see on the website and on DCSS PAAM that our updated logo is now live, and we feel this matches the new streamlined approach we intend to take with how we operate moving forwards, both onsite and at the office. We’d like to say a special thank you to Elliot Hawker, the web designer who created the logo. Thank you, Elliot.

We hope everyone is keeping safe and well. Though this is typically the quiet period for us where ordinarily we’re beginning preparations for the upcoming festival season, there’s no denying that this year feels quite different. None of us really know what to expect at this stage but rest assured, we are quietly working away behind the scenes, preparing for every possible scenario for 2021.
In the meantime, let’s have some feelgood Friday vibes, and a pleasant weekend. read more...

We would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! This past year was a difficult one to say the least, but we’re still here, and we’re still planning and preparing for a full festival season, whatever shape and form that may take.

Please join us in wishing Summer Buckley a very happy Birthday! (Even if it is a day late). We’re pleased to (finally) announce some upcoming work opportunities for September. We have the Turf Games, a hybrid event which closes the gap between competitive functional fitness and one dimensional events such as marathons to bring you a social event, centred around team-based workouts. For those of you who are DC veterans you will know Dick and Janet, two of DC Site Services’ Directors who were here from the very beginning and established the Company in 1993. Dick and Janet first became involved in the Events & Festival scene back in the 60s, which resulted in them joining Reading festival’s ‘training school’ and have since then, in one way or another been involved with this iconic festival.

This is another one that stings a little bit. Leeds and Reading festival have been a staple of DC’s event calendar for many years. These sister festivals are usually the peak of the festival season, our fullest weekend over the August bank holiday.
This is usually when our managers are at their busiest, the office staff at their most engaged with phones permanently attached to their ears…so it feels odd to be in a strange limbo.

Who was there with us last year at Ed Sheeran? From start to finish, DC Site Services was there to provide a full waste management service for an amazing gig which was sandwiched in between a series of other big festivals!
We remember the hill that felt like a mountain that was thoroughly picked. Muddy boots. A LOT of hay and bins and one big stage. A few of our crew were even lucky enough to get a wave from Mr. Sheeran himself during the build.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has been in touch with the office to share your memories from last years festivals. It’s put a nostalgic smile on our faces and a spring in our step as we plan for the future.

This was a hard one for everyone this year. Glastonbury is a legendary festival, the biggest in Europe, and 2020 would have been its fiftieth anniversary.
From the sea of tents, to the temperamental weather, gorgeous sunrises and extortionate but downright delectable food (depending on the vendor!) there is honestly something for absolutely everyone at Glastonbury.

In previous weeks we’ve caught up with DC regulars Dan and Summer, and then Dave and Jane. This week we’re catching up with Ed Hawker who you may know as DC’s Operations Manager at the Office, or as the shouty person on the radio onsite at Glastonbury or Leeds festival.
Ed has used his time to focus on his family by home-schooling and going for bike rides with his son, Harrison, and by stretching those green thumbs of his to lend his dad a hand in the family gardening business. Not only has he read more...
Last week we touched base with Dan and Summer in an effort to keep our DC family connected until such a time that we can all meet safely again soon, in a field somewhere, sometime in the near future.
This week we’re touching base with two more DC regulars, Dave and Jane! Dave and Jane have worked with DC for the past five years and can usually be spotted at Glastonbury, in fancy dress (of course) killing it on shift and giving the young’uns a run for their money!

For many of us, we can’t help but think about which festivals we’d ordinarily be working at right now, the desperate amongst us even setting up tents in our back gardens! The hardest part of lockdown has undoubtedly been missing our friends and family, working at the festivals has never just been a job, it’s also a way of forging long-lasting relationships with people we might not otherwise meet – people you may be missing right now. So, because of this, we’d like to touch base with some familia read more...
